Who is Adam?

How I got started…

Thank you for stopping by to see my photography from around the world.  I have grown a passion for photography over the past couple of years and love what it has given me.  I started really enjoying photography with a Pentax point and shoot as I traveled 43,000 miles around the Pacific Rim in the summer of 2008.  I came back with a fiery passion for the art and started researching cameras.  My first DSLR (Nikon D90) arrived during the Winter of 2009 and I started playing around with it right away.  Unhappy with my results as the photos were boring and flat.  My passion started to fade.  I knew there were more colors and depth like what my eye was seeing that weren’t being captured.  It wasn’t until I came across Trey Ratcliff’s blog and HDR tutorial the passion exploded into an unquenchable thirst.   I had heard nothing about HDR photography until that moment.  I started researching HDR finding that this is exactly what I was looking for!  I have been practicing HDR seriously since the winter of 2010.  I really really love what it has to offer for the photography world.

Why…

As a graduate from Iowa State University’s Landscape Architecture program I also have a passion for for design and art.  My love for photography just spawned from my schooling.  I find it is a very satisfying hobby to have.  I love the challenge of going to a place and being able to capture its colors, its depth, and its spirit in one single frame.  Being able to share my work and having people enjoy it is an extreme high.  It is fun to see the joy on peoples faces as they enjoy something you created.  It has been a fun ride in the past year and I am excited to see where it goes.

What I use…

Honestly, I don’t use anything special.  I have a Nikon D90 with the kit lens and some old Nikon lenses from the 70′s.  The tripod I have is nice from traveling but isn’t the most stable in windy situations.  And I have a remote to shot the brackets.  It is a simple setup I have right now.  I hope to upgrade in the next year or so.  Most of the money has gone into the software for post processing lately such as Adobe CS5 and onOne Software.

What I do…

I started my adventure with just capturing landscapes.  As I have grown I have started to explore with the personal photo shoots.  If you would like to have me shoot photos for your senior, engagement, maternity, family, and so on; don’t hesitate to contact me on my contact page.  We together can customize a photo shoot for you.
